ZonneHout originated during a period when I was reshaping my life.

After having a child, experiencing burnout, and losing my mother, I increasingly felt a strong desire to create more space for creativity, mindfulness, and work that truly resonated with me. A life that better aligns with who I've become and what I find important.

During my search for a beautiful lamp for my son's room, I realized I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere. Many products felt temporary, mass-produced, or lacked the warmth and personality I sought. I wanted something that was not only beautiful but also had character. Something that would last.

Then I remembered a lamp I received as a child from my grandparents: a wooden sunflower. That lamp held a special place in my life for years. Not just because of its light or design, but primarily because of the feeling it gave me. The warmth of the light, the natural materials, and the memories associated with it.

That became the beginning of ZonneHout.

The sunflower gained an additional meaning. It was my mother's favorite flower and, for me, symbolizes warmth, growth, and the continuous search for light. A meaning intertwined with everything I create.

From my workshop, I design and create wooden products for children's rooms. In small batches, with attention to detail and with respect for people and materials. Not mass production, but products developed and made with care.

I believe that a child's room is more than just a space. It's the place for bedtime stories, for cuddly toys that go everywhere, for small rituals and big dreams. It is precisely there that memories are often created that last a lifetime.

With ZonneHout, I create products that are more than just decoration. Products that become part of small daily rituals and memories that last for years.

Because it's precisely these small moments that later become the memories that endure.

Love,

Nena
